Who We Are
NGDSALab is a research laboratory of the Department of Digital Systems at the University of Thessaly, active in the design, development, and study of next-generation digital systems applications. Its work spans a broad range of areas — from modern communication networks and cybersecurity to the Internet of Things, robotics, cyber-physical systems, and machine learning applications. The lab’s activity combines research with education and hands-on practice, through research projects, undergraduate theses, technical seminars, and participation in student competitions.

The lab’s activity is organized into six core areas.
Networking, Communications, and Cisco Technologies
Design, implementation, and maintenance of wired and wireless network infrastructure, with an emphasis on Cisco technologies. Includes management of the lab’s rack, server, and IoT device infrastructure.
Digital Systems Security and Cybersecurity
Study and application of cybersecurity, cryptography, and digital systems security techniques. Includes offensive and defensive security activities (Red / Blue Teams), as well as participation in cybersecurity competitions and CTFs.
Design and Optimization of Next-Generation Digital Systems
Research and development in the Internet of Things, wireless sensor networks (WSN), digital twins, drones, and robotics. Includes applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as topics in information theory and coding.
Technical Support (IT Support)
Technical support for the lab in hardware, software, applications, and devices, ensuring the smooth operation of NGDSALab’s infrastructure.
Education and Technical Seminars
Organization and delivery of educational activities, technical seminars, and talks (Student Tech Talks), aimed at sharing knowledge and showcasing the work of students and lab members.
Game Development
Development of video games, with applications in education, training, and the study of interactive digital systems.
